Development of story-driven adventure video game Baltic Folk

SneakyBox is innovation driven and performance oriented game development company. Our highly skilled and creative team includes professionals with over ten years of experience with the company. The goal of this project is to develop narrative video game Baltic Folk which is a story-driven adventure inspired by Lithuanian folklore and magical realism. In the midsummer of her gap year, Lina (The Protagonist) is summoned to Dausos to help her grandma Regina (The Witch) in the village. What seems like another workation of village chores, ends up being a fight for survival of Lina’s family and identity. Turns out, Regina’s health and powers are deteriorating, so she’s starting to weaken and wither away. Lina finds out that the Tree of Life holds the key to her grandma’s survival, and of the village as a whole, as life is already fading in the forest. However, the Tree’s roots can only be rejuvenated if the Gods set aside their differences, rediscover the power of their identities and traditions, and come together to help humans again as a united pantheon. Players will experience a coming-of-age journey in the fictional village of Dausos where they will meet a motley crew of Lithuanian pagan gods living there, dig deep to build relationships, and help them find new identities in the modern world. Inspired by idyllic slice-of-life worlds of Studio Ghibli and character-driven storytelling of Hades, this game introduces a unique folklore wrapped in familiar nostalgia. Baltic Folk aims to provide a rich, narrative driven experience for seasoned players (through the use of supplementary game mechanics for detective minigames, and collectible pixel-hunt scenarios) and newcomers to the medium alike by focusing on a coming of age story centered around a pantheon of Gods, stuck in the 90s. This game will capture the audience who put narrative first and want a hands – on experience of creating and telling a story.
